21-year-old arrested in Colorado on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor Tyler Boebert, son of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. On the same day, the young man was released from prison on bail of $10,000. Note that this is not Boebert’s first problems with the law. Read more in the RTVI material.
According to the charges, in 2024, Boebert, when he was 18, recorded a video with a 17-year-old girl, NBC News clarifies. Her mother later told authorities that footage of her daughter allegedly having sex with Tyler had been posted on Instagram.
According to court documents, the young man was charged with three counts of sexual exploitation and two counts of inciting a minor to commit a crime, the TV channel adds. Boebert is scheduled to appear in Garfield County Court on Aug. 19.
“I love my son. We take the allegations very seriously and are praying for everyone affected during this difficult time,” NBC News quoted Lauren Boebert as saying in response.
Tyler, the eldest of four sons of the congresswoman and her ex-husband Jason, has a history of breaking the law. As RTVI reported, in 2024 he was charged with 22, including five felonies, after a series of alleged thefts from cars in Colorado. He was then released on bail of $1,250.
In 2025, Boebert was charged with neglect, which his mother attributed to “a misunderstanding over the supervision of my young grandson that recently caused him to leave home,” the New York Post (NYP) reported. Earlier this year, Tyler faced another similar charge after he allegedly allowed his two-year-old son to leave the congresswoman’s home for a second time. Lauren Boebert is now 39 years old.
Note that Republican Lauren Boebert has positioned herself, according to her campaign website, as a defender of conservative values, farmers’ rights and “the proud mother of four boys” whom she is raising to be “strong, independent men.” Before running for Congress, where she was elected in 2020, Boebert volunteered at the Garfield County Jail, where Tyler was later released.
Last month, Boebert swore at a Fox News reporter when he questioned her about allegations made by the Republican’s ex-girlfriend of a sexual relationship with Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, a vocal critic of US President Donald Trump. Let us also recall that Boebert was part of a bipartisan group of members of the House of Representatives that sought the Department of Justice to publish documents related to the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with whom the American leader was suspected of having ties.
Later, after Boebert campaigned for Massie, the head of the White House called her “imbecile” and offered to nominate any candidate for Congress in her place, promising that person his support.
In 2023, a woman found herself in the spotlight after she was kicked out of the Beetlejuice musical in Denver. As video cameras recorded, she molested her boyfriend during the performance, while the couple smoked a vape and took pictures during the performance.
In 2022, the congresswoman allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a cook who supported Democrat Barack Obama at her Shooters Grill restaurant, where waiters openly carried guns in holsters and customers were encouraged to dine armed. The establishment closed that year because the building’s owner decided not to renew Boebert’s lease.
