A woman armed with a bladed weapon attacked passersby in New York's central Times Square. According to preliminary data, two people were injured.
The attacker was shot and killed by police. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital, according to Gothamist. NBC New York reports the woman is in critical condition.
Gothamist reports that at least one passerby was injured as a result of the attack, NBC New York – that at least two. There have been no official statements from the police at this time.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm at the intersection of 43rd Street and 7th Avenue: police blocked traffic in that area. Witnesses told NewsNation that the woman was holding two knives.
“She ran downstairs, the police drove by, surrounded her and talked to her for about five minutes,” the source told the publication.
Then a stun gun was used against the woman, but she attacked the police and they opened fire.
“They shot her twice,” an eyewitness said.
More than 10 emergency vehicles responded to the scene, NewsNation adds.
