American actress Bunny Levine, known for her cameo roles in the films “La La Land” and “You Don't Mess with the Zohan,” has died at the age of 97, her representative told NBC Los Angeles. The artist's death occurred in her sleep due to natural causes at home in Los Angeles.
Levine began her acting career in the late 1980s after working as a school librarian for over 20 years. In an interview, she admitted that she always dreamed of performing. For roles in commercials and films, she took acting lessons, and then moved from her native New Jersey to California, closer to Hollywood.
After working in the TV series “Law and Order”, “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Gilmore Girls”, Levine began to be invited to feature films in character roles, which sometimes did not make it into the final credits.
So, in 2016, she played an elderly cinema cashier in the Oscar-winning film “La La Land” with Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Levine has shared the screen with comedian Adam Sandler three times. She appeared in the comedies You Don't Mess with the Zohan, Sandy Wexler, and Don't Come to My Bat Mitzvah.
The actress's representative, Mike Eisenstadt, told NBC Los Angeles that she has not stopped going to auditions in her old age.
The artist was appreciated both for her image of a charming grandmother and for her unusual petite height of less than 150 cm (4 feet 10 inches), Deadline notes. Some of her latest works were the comedy Thelma, where she played the main character’s friend, as well as the horror film The Cure. Levin is survived by three children and two grandchildren.
