81-year-old James Handy, a Hollywood actor known for his roles in the films “Logan,” “Jumanji” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” was found stabbed in his home in Los Angeles, the New York Post writes, citing local police. He was allegedly killed by the son of a woman with whom he was in a relationship.

According to police, officers were called to a home in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Before that, a man called 911 and said, “I am the son of man. I just killed a sinner.”

When officers arrived, they found Handy unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest. He was hospitalized at a nearby hospital, where the actor later died.

The suspect is 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, who allegedly lived in the house with his mother, who was in a relationship with Handy. According to police, the man himself approached officers at the scene and admitted that he had attacked the actor.

Gledhill was arrested and taken to the Van Nuys Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of murder. His bail was set at $2 million, the Los Angeles Times clarifies.

According to Handy's IMDb page, the actor has appeared in more than 150 films and TV series. He played in such popular films as “Logan,” “Arachnophobia” and “Jumanji,” as well as “9-1-1,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Vegas” and “CSI: NY.”

Handy was born in New York and began acting in the late 1970s. Over the decades, he has established himself as “one of the most consistent actors in the industry,” writes the New York Post. Viewers remember him most for his role as bartender Jimmy in the 2022 blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick,” the publication clarifies.
