The French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the UEFA Champions League (UEFA Champions League) for the second year in a row. The team's Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov spent the entire match against London's Arsenal on the field, including the decisive penalty shootout.

The main and extra time of the match in Budapest (Hungary) ended in a draw with the score 1:1. The English club, which recently became the national champion for the first time in 22 years, opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the match. The goal was scored by German striker Kai Havertz.

PSG managed to equalize in the second half through the efforts of Frenchman Ousmane Dembele. He successfully took the penalty in the 65th minute, awarded for an Arsenal foul on PSG's Georgian striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian, like the Russian, spent the entire match and extra time on the field, but did not strike in the penalty shootout.

The penalty shootout ended with the result 4:3 in favor of PSG. Safonov did not save a single shot from the 11-meter mark, but two Arsenal players shot wide of the goal.

As RBC notes, Safonov thus became the first two-time winner of the Champions League in the history of Russian football, as well as the first Russian to take the field in the final in the starting lineup. PSG won the tournament for the second year in a row, but the Russian goalkeeper remained on the bench last time.
