Miley is no longer Cyrus – the singer's father supported the name change, because of which the Russian fan “suffered”

Miley Cyrus, without explanation, refused to use her last name in the promotional campaign for her new album Bass Persuades, which will be released on September 18. Due to the singer’s decision, Russian fan Ksenia Ermokhina lost her nickname miley on the social network X (formerly Twitter) – the account was renamed without her knowledge.

As Ermokhina said on her Instagram, Russian-speaking and English-speaking users began actively writing to her the other day, calling for her to release her nickname on X for Cyrus, who managed to change her name in other social networks. Some expressed their demands in an insulting manner.

According to the girl, she was ready to do this, but since 2019 she has lost the password for the email to which the account was linked. Neither the artist’s representatives nor the administration of Elon Musk’s social network contacted her officially, Ermokhina emphasized.

After some time, the girl—a content maker herself—discovered that the numbers 123 after three underscores had been added to her nickname miley, and the original name appeared on the page of her favorite performer.

“For me, as a smiler who has always been her fan, this news feed is something transcendental,” admitted Ermokhina, who created an account in honor of the singer back in her school days.

The singer of the hit Flowers did not comment on the situation with the Russian woman, nor on the change of her stage name. It is still unknown whether her mononym (first name without last name) will remain after the promotion of the album is completed, but the Google search engine has already begun to correct user requests.

The Daily Beast drew attention to this on September 1, but RTVI was unable to reproduce the situation at the time of writing this material.

“Perhaps you just meant Miley?” — the search engine responded for some time to the request “Miley Cyrus.”

The singer's father Billy Ray Cyrus, with whom, as the media previously wrote, she had a conflict, supported the changes. The country singer noted that, ironically, he initially wanted to use only the surname Cyrus in his work, but the label did not support him.

“I always called my little girl Miley, just Miley. It's a natural progression for any legendary superstar – and the legend continues!” – Cyrus wrote in X, mentioning the mononyms of Cher and Prince in this regard.

By the way, under her new nickname in X, the singer announced on Thursday, September 3, the release of the first single from the album – the Bass Persuades song of the same name. In total, Miley's 10th album will include 10 compositions.
