American singer Oliver Tree, known for the hits Life Goes On and Miss You, died in a plane crash in Brazil, the local CNN affiliate and O Dia reported, citing police.
As noted by the media, the disaster occurred in the morning local time on Sunday, June 14. Two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro, killing six people. Tree's full name, Oliver Tree Nickell, was on the list of victims published by law enforcement agencies. Representatives of the 32-year-old artist have not yet commented on the information.
According to CNN Brasil, other passengers on the helicopter Tree was flying in included Brazilian music producer Lucas Brito Chavez, who lived in the United States, and Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim (Gaspi). The second helicopter had one pilot.
The fact of a plane crash in the west of Rio de Janeiro was also reported by the American agency Associated Press (AP). The agency noted, citing firefighters, that one of the helicopters crashed into a parking lot, where a fire broke out and was then extinguished. According to the AP, the singer was on the passenger list, but identification of the bodies has not yet been completed.
A native of California, Tree was known for his electronic compositions with elements of humor, as well as his flamboyant style in clothes and hairstyles.
In 2021, he released a joint mini-album Welcome to the Internet with the Russian group Little Big and Estonian performer Tommy Cash, performing in a similar genre.
Three arrived in Brazil as part of a tour called The World's First World Tour. He managed to perform in Sao Paulo on June 6, and before that he gave concerts in Mexico and Argentina.
