Two objects were renamed in the USA in honor of President Donald Trump, reports NBC News. In one day, July 9, Palm Beach International Airport in Florida and the Francis Burnett Swann Memorial Bridge in Tennessee were officially named after the Republican.
The airport, renamed in honor of Trump, is regularly used by the president himself to get to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. In March, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, signed legislation to change its name, which took effect July 9. The president himself called the event a “very important day” for Palm Beach County, and he described the vote of local legislators for the initiative as “impressive.”
“This area is hot, the location is great and the renovation will be amazing. Thank you to everyone in Palm Beach for your vote and your support. This will soon be one of the greatest and most impressive airports in the world!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The PBI code assigned to the airport by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will be changed to Trump's initials DJT from August 18, 2026, the transport hub's website notes. The entire name change will cost about $5.5 million.
“The cost includes updating airport signage, navigation systems, corporate identity, technology systems, printed materials and other infrastructure elements,” the airport’s website states.
The renaming will be paid for by the State of Florida, which is providing $2.75 million for the project, and the remaining costs will be covered by the Department of Airports operating budget and capital improvement program. No local property tax funds are used to maintain the airport.
“The name change will not entail the introduction of a separate fee for passengers. Like other operating and capital expenses of the airport, implementation costs are covered by existing funding sources of the Department of Airports,” the transport hub’s website emphasizes.
Trump Force One, the private jet Trump used during his campaign, became the first plane to land at the airport at 5:01 a.m. Thursday after its name was officially changed, said Eric Trump, one of the president's sons.
Signs of change ahead! ✈️
We are officially in transition mode! We're working behind the scenes to update our physical signage, terminal spaces, and digital channels to our new name: President Donald J. Trump International Airport.

That same day, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent spoke at a ceremony in Tennessee, where the state Legislature last year passed legislation to rename several bridges and roads, including naming a bridge in Jefferson County the President Donald Trump Bridge, NBC News noted.
It was an honor to join the official unveiling of the President Donald J. Trump Bridge along Interstate 40 in Dandridge, Tennessee with @MarshaBlackburn, @timburchett, @RepFaison, and members of the Trump family, including Elizabeth and Ann Marie.

The trend to perpetuate Trump in the United States arose after his election to a second term. The Republican's portrait was featured on a limited edition 250th Anniversary passport this year (and featured on a commemorative gold coin commemorating the anniversary), and he will be the first sitting head of state to have his signature on dollar bills.
In addition, the name of the American leader was given to the US Institute of Peace, a new type of Trump-class warships, the TrumpRx drug discount program and Trump Accounts, an investment deposit project for parents and guardians of children in the US, which can be read in detail in RTVI’s exclusive material.
Some renamings have encountered legal problems. This year, a court ruled the decision to add Trump's name to the name of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington was illegal and ordered the new sign to be removed.
