The total number of visitors to the social network Truth Social, founded by US President Donald Trump, fell by about 36% in July compared to the same period last year, and in June – by 48%, according to the newsletter TheRighting.
Analysts called June “one of the worst months in the platform's history.” Howard Polskin, president and founder of TheRighting, says the drop in traffic is “surprising.”
“The decline suggests that Truth Social’s traffic is beginning to correlate with its decline. [Дональда Трампа] ratings due to the war in Iran. Perhaps the public is tired of his incessant hyperbolic statements,” Polskin emphasizes.
Trump launched the Truth Social platform in February 2022 after his account was suspended from social networks Twitter and Facebook due to the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. As Polskin notes, the Republican actively uses Truth Social as “a powerful megaphone to promote his policies, attack opponents,” and to “praise and promote politicians who toe the MAGA line” (Trump’s Make America Great Again movement).
Later, when billionaire Elon Musk, a former Trump supporter, acquired Twitter (the social network is now called X), Trump's account there was unblocked.
TheRighting records traffic losses in double digits for 14 right-wing sites. At the same time, the number of visits to the three main liberal-oriented news resources, which the project monitors on a monthly basis, also decreased compared to last year. Thus, the CNN television channel lost 25% of traffic, while the newspapers The Washington Post (WP) and The New York Times (NYT) lost 13% and 2%, respectively.
TheRighting is a media company that collects articles from various right-wing media outlets, as well as publishing its own reporting on the world of conservative media, according to the newsletter's website. The project's goal is to “inform moderate and liberal audiences about events and points of view that are outside their field of view, but shape the political views of large segments of the American population.”
Against this backdrop, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), co-founded by Trump and of which Truth Social is a subsidiary, releases its report for the second quarter of 2026. Despite the fact that revenue grew by 89% – to $1.7 million, TMTG's net loss was $238.1 million. At the same time, a new strategy is mentioned, the basis of which is the data licensing product – Truth API.
The tool was developed by Trump's company and gives traders and large investors priority access to the White House leader's posts on Truth Social for an additional fee. In this regard, Democrats have officially called for checking the US President for insider trading, when some stock exchange players gain access to classified information in advance and, based on it, make transactions that are profitable for themselves.
Also to improve its financial situation, Trump Media & Technology Group announced it was merging with TAE Technologies, a leading fusion energy company, to “increase revenue from Truth Social.” Earlier, RTVI talked about how Trump, his family and supporters are suspected of making money from nuclear energy.
