A resident of the American state of California, Anila Baby, appeared in court on charges of murdering two of her friends on the same day. As ABC 7 reports, citing the police, the 33-year-old woman first went to San Jose, where she strangled and stabbed the first victim, and an hour and a half later, she killed a second friend with a car in the city of Milpitas, where she lives.
The murders occurred on August 28, but the first hearing in Santa Clara County Court took place this week. Investigators believe that the woman “cold-bloodedly” planned the crimes, but her motives have not yet been established.
“Both [убитых] women were mothers. They are residents of our community, and their families are now experiencing terrible suffering, not understanding how this could have been done,” said Deputy District Attorney Marisa McKeon.

The body of the first victim, 39-year-old Ann Mary Matthew, was found at home in a pool of blood by her husband. Eyewitnesses to the crime reported that Bebi's visit came as a surprise to her friend.
Baby found her second friend, 35-year-old Anjana Hari, in the parking lot of the apartment building where she lived. According to investigators, the accused sharply pressed the gas in her Toyota when Hari, smiling, approached the car.
Hari suffered fatal traumatic brain injuries as a result of the collision, and Baby fled the scene, hitting three other parked cars, KRON adds, citing the prosecution.
Baby was arrested shortly after the second incident when she stopped her damaged vehicle at a Walgreens store in Milpitas. During the search, the police found blood on her arms and legs, and also noticed that she herself had received injuries.
“She was speaking incoherently and could not answer questions,” KRON reports from police.
Under California law, Baby faces up to 25 years in prison for each of the two counts of murder.
