Hunter Biden Summer? The media writes about the growing interest in the son of the ex-president and asks Trump

The son of former US President Joe Biden, Hunter, who was previously pardoned by his father after trials for tax violations and illegal purchase of weapons, has gained viral popularity on social networks, Newsweek, Axios and People note. His new posts on X (formerly Twitter) are receiving millions of views, and current President Donald Trump is already being asked to comment on Biden Jr.'s prospects in the 2028 presidential election.

A 56-year-old former lawyer turned artist and activist, Biden returned to his old X account in May 2026, but posted little at first. He began actively posting on June 1 after he noted seven years of sober living in a video message. The son of the previous head of the White House did not hide the fact that in the past he suffered from alcoholism and drug addiction – Republicans actively reproached him for this, along with his employment in the Ukrainian gas company Burisma during his father's vice presidency.

As People notes, in recent days, Hunter Biden has made more than 300 publications on the social network, most of which were responses to messages from other users, often criticizing his family and himself.

Thus, Biden Jr. managed to laugh off suggestions that he was the one who forgot a package of cocaine in the White House in 2023 (“I would never forget my drugs”) and images generated by a neural network (“The crack pipe does not have a small bowl at the end, please fix”).

He also managed to come to his father’s defense – in response to an attempt to doubt Biden Sr.’s cancer diagnosis, he replied that the cancer was brought under control through radiation and hormonal therapy. The post received 1.8 million views.

Biden Jr. also complained that the media is criticizing his mother Jill's memoirs and his business of selling his own paintings while Trump's children are involved in multimillion-dollar investments. The audience of this publication exceeded 16 million, of which 270 thousand people liked the message.

The topic of forgotten drugs led to another joke by Biden Jr. about political ambitions. He noted that he is ready to run for president in 2028 only in order to find the person who forgot cocaine in the White House on the first day and return the prohibited substance to him. The Democrat's son soon proposed a slogan for his campaign on the same theme.

“How about Let's take another crack with a Biden? There may still be work to be done on this, but the possibilities are endless,” Hunter Biden joked and collected almost 3 million more views.

Trump was asked about Biden Jr.'s political prospects at a White House event on Thursday, June 4. The Republican noted that the son of his past opponent “does not have the best past,” but has a chance to compete in the Democratic primaries.

According to Trump, “Hunter can do as well as” Democrats running for the Senate, Graham Platner and James Talarico. He did not name them, but described them as “hopeless” and “like Alfred E. Newman” (a humor magazine character), respectively.

“I’m not sure, but I think their chances are comparable,” Trump said.

Biden Jr. soon shared a video of Trump's response, calling himself a “MAGA tamer” – Trump's Make America Great Again movement. Trump, in turn, posted on Truth Social a neural network-generated image of Hunter Biden painting his portrait with the caption “The Greatest President.”

On Friday, Joe Biden's son released a list of “things Americans don't argue about.” It included clauses about the “bad guy” [Владимире] Putin”, “too expensive products”, “secure border” and “stupid endless wars”. The post, reminiscent of an election plan, received more than 3 million views.
