In New York, a man and a woman were killed by a subway train at the Spring Street station. reports The Daily Source. Before the collision, they were sitting on the tracks facing the approaching train. The driver tried to brake urgently, but was unable to avoid a collision. Both died on the spot, the police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 13, around 3:14 am. The southbound No. 4 train hit both men, who were both 24 years old, according to the Daily Mail. The man was from Sayreville, New Jersey, and the woman was from Dayton, New York. The driver tried to apply the emergency brake, but it was too late, and the train hit both the man and the woman, AMNY adds.
“According to an NYPD spokesman, emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the man and woman unresponsive to external stimuli. Their death was confirmed on the spot,” the Daily Mail clarifies.
Authorities are not releasing the names of the victims until their relatives are notified. Investigators are looking into whether the couple drank alcohol before the incident, sources familiar with the investigation told the New York Post (NYP).

The incident occurred 10 days after another death in the New York subway. On September 3, MTA employee Moet McCallum died. She was preparing to install lights on the tracks to warn approaching trains of the presence of a work crew. But the driver said he did not see any signals and continued driving at normal speed.
