Rockstar, which is developing the video game GTA VI, has announced the release of a video project called Grand Theft Auto VI: The Extended Look on Netflix on August 27. Both organizations have not yet disclosed its content, however, Internet users drew attention to the possibility of more than half an hour of timing, and the gaming publication Kotaku is waiting for the first demonstration of the gameplay of the new part of the series.
The release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI, GTA 6) is scheduled for November 19 on Sony PlayStation 5 consoles, as well as Xbox Series X and S. The game will be ported to personal computers (PCs) probably next year, as usually happens with Rockstar games.
Netflix indicated on the film's page that the show will showcase a “new evolution of the breakthrough series” of games, but gaming journalist Zach Zwiesen is almost sure that the developers will present gameplay. Previously, Rockstar published only two edited trailers for GTA VI, which fans of the series have been waiting for 13 years after the release of GTA V.
“We can't know for sure that this extended reveal will include unedited gameplay footage, but based on how Rockstar has acted in the past, I'd be willing to bet my bottom dollar that it's a gameplay reveal,” the Kotaku writer said.
Zwiesen added that he also sees no reason to worry about another postponement of the GTA VI release. According to his observations, Rockstar did not postpone their major projects so close to the designated date, and gameplay videos of their latest games – GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 – appeared 70-80 days before release.
“What we consider to be a large gameplay trailer for GTA VI will appear 70 days before its release,” the journalist noted.
Some Reddit users have also noticed that their GTA VI extended screening page is showing a runtime of just over 30 minutes. It's unclear how much confidence these numbers should have, as other commentators noted that they encountered a similar error with videos that actually had a different timing.
The extended run will begin streaming on Netflix on August 27 at 3:00 pm ET. The platform reminds us on the film's page that it has retained the option of a 30-day free trial for new subscribers.
Those who don't have a Netflix subscription will be able to see what the developers actually have in store six hours later. An extended showing of GTA VI will be made publicly available on YouTube at 9:00 pm ET on the same day.
GTA VI is expected to tell the story of two new characters, Jason and Lucia, who will plunge into the criminal world of a parody version of American Miami called Vice City. The city previously appeared in the game GTA: Vice City, released in 2002. The latest serialized parts of the franchise also showed versions of real American cities – New York and Los Angeles, through which the heroes could move on foot and in cars.
Pre-orders for GTA VI successfully started on June 25, despite the absence of any official gameplay demonstration at that time. The standard edition of the game in the US will cost $79.99, and for the extended edition, which will include additional options for customizing characters and weapons, as well as exclusive cars and real estate, you will have to pay $99.99.
