Ukraine has agreed not to attack Russian energy facilities, US President Donald Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform. According to the head of the White House, Russia has agreed to do the same.
Trump previously called on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to “stop hitting” Russian energy facilities that produce diesel fuel. He connected this with the shortage of diesel in the world and rising prices for it. At the same time, the American leader called the defeat of other targets “acceptable.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump again linked the fighting to diesel prices. The head of the White House emphasized that the increase in prices for this type of fuel was mainly caused by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and not by the war of the United States with Iran.
In another post, Trump wrote that Tehran “wants a deal, quickly and on any terms.” At the same time, the head of the White House said that it was he who would “determine whether the United States will enter into negotiations,” but noted Washington’s readiness for them.
Trump's Sunday address to Zelensky was previously positively assessed in the Kremlin. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, in a comment to the TASS news agency, said that “one can only welcome” any call for Kyiv to stop attacks on economic infrastructure.
Neither Russia nor Ukraine had officially commented on Trump’s new post at the time of writing. Despite the statement by the head of the White House that the parties to the conflict mutually agreed to refuse to carry out strikes, Moscow and Kyiv neither confirmed nor denied this, and also did not mention any contacts.
Earlier, as RTVI reported, Trump’s son-in-law, businessman Jared Kushner, following negotiations in Moscow and Kyiv, said that the United States continues to search for a “creative solution” to end the conflict. He also mentioned preparations for a trilateral meeting between representatives of the United States, Russia and Ukraine in the UAE. According to the Kremlin, it could take place as early as October.
