Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo married his long-term lover, Spanish model Georgina Rodriguez. The newlyweds published a photo with wedding rings on their social networks. Both posts together received more than 13 million likes in about an hour.
The long-awaited wedding took place on August 11. Ronaldo captioned the post “C❤️G,” which presumably means “with Georgina”: G is the first letter of her name (Georgina), and “c” could mean “com” in Portuguese and “con” in Spanish (both meaning “c”).
According to People, the couple held a private ceremony in Cascais, Portugal. The ceremony was attended by children and immediate family.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez met in 2016, when Georgina worked as a saleswoman at a Gucci store. Soon they started dating. In 2017, their daughter Alana Martina was born, and in 2022, Georgina gave birth to twins: a girl, Bella Esmeralda, and a boy, Angel, but the son died shortly after birth. In addition, the couple is raising three more older children of Ronaldo: it is unknown who their mothers are.
Exactly a year ago, on August 11, 2025, Ronaldo and Rodriguez announced their engagement. Then the model posted a photo of a ring with a large diamond on Instagram. The caption read: “Yes, I want to. In this and in all my lives.”
Previously, various assumptions about the place and time of the wedding appeared in the media. In particular, it was reported that Ronaldo and Rodriguez could get married in Portugal after the completion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. At the end of July, information was also circulated about a ceremony allegedly planned for August 1 in the historical palace and park complex of Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, but this information was not confirmed.
The wedding attracted the attention of the paparazzi. As RTVI reported, on Saturday, August 8, this led to pandemonium at the cathedral in the city of Funchal in Madeira, where Ronaldo was born: fans and journalists were sure that the star wedding would take place there. But the church soon announced that certain Fabio and Nicole became husband and wife that day. Some wedding guests noted in comments to reporters that they “felt like stars” due to the misunderstanding. The assembled fans and journalists only realized something was wrong when the church had a bride who looked nothing like Georgina.
